Hi, I'm Richard Kenyon, and I’m passionate about bringing Shakespeare to life for students and educators. My goal is simple: to help students find their voices by diving into Shakespeare’s works—and in doing so, discover more about themselves.

With over 30 years of experience as an actor, director, acting coach, and Shakespeare specialist, I use the First Folio to unlock a deeper understanding of the Bard’s language. I believe the best way to learn Shakespeare is by actively engaging with it: getting it on its feet, hearing the words aloud, and truly feeling their impact.

Over the past three decades, I’ve taught Shakespeare and led acting workshops across Canada and the United States. My training comes from respected institutions such as Niagara College, the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School, and the University of Calgary, as well as Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. I’ve also completed advanced online coursework through Harvard University, including "Shakespeare’s Life and Work" with renowned scholar Stephen Greenblatt. Along the way, I have been a guest lecturer and instructor at numerous colleges and high schools across North America.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of directing 32 of Shakespeare’s plays and working with students, actors, and professionals at every stage of their journeys. Some of my favorite plays to teach include Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet. As an actor, I’ve taken on roles such as Richard III, Henry V, Mercutio, Hamlet, Macbeth, and Marc Antony in both Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra.

Currently, I work as a private acting coach in Hollywood and serve as Artist in Residence at The Shakespeare Villa in Pasadena, CA. I specialize in voice training using the Linklater method, regularly incorporating Kristin Linklater’s techniques into my workshops.
